These terms apply when you use this website (sbth.co.nz), create an account, or purchase any course or programme from Small Business Training Hub Ltd ("SBTH", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or purchase a course.
Small Business Training Hub Ltd is a New Zealand company providing plain-English, practical training on payroll, bookkeeping, GST, and small business compliance topics, aimed at small business owners, bookkeepers, virtual assistants, and accountants.
We offer a range of courses and programmes, from standalone short courses to full training programmes (such as Payroll Essentials). Course content, format, and access period vary by course - the specific access period for each course is stated on the course page at the time of purchase.
To access a course, you'll need to create an account with a username and password. Keep your login details confidential - you're responsible for activity that happens under your account. Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
Our courses are designed and kept up to date by SBTH. We may update, reorder, replace or retire lessons, videos, workbooks and resources at any time, for example to reflect changes in the law, Inland Revenue rates or good practice. If we update a lesson during your access period, you'll get the updated version. Course content is general education about New Zealand payroll, employment and compliance topics. It isn't legal, tax or financial advice for your situation, so check current requirements with Inland Revenue, Employment New Zealand or a qualified adviser before you act.
Each course has its own access period, shown on the course page when you purchase. Once that period ends, you may lose access to the course content unless you repurchase or renew, where that option is available. It's your responsibility to complete the course within the stated access period.
Because our courses are digital and access is granted immediately on purchase, we don't offer refunds once a course has been accessed. If you haven't yet accessed a course and have a genuine reason for requesting a refund, contact us at hello@sbth.co.nz and we'll consider it on a case-by-case basis. This doesn't affect any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 that can't legally be excluded (for example, if a course is faulty or not as described).
Learners who complete a full programme (such as Payroll Essentials) receive a certificate of completion. Certificates aren't issued for smaller standalone courses. A certificate confirms completion of the programme content - it isn't a formal accreditation or qualification.
All course content, including videos, workbooks, handouts, templates, quizzes, slides and transcripts, is owned by SBTH (or used with permission) and is protected by copyright. Your purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence (or a single-organisation licence for the people named in the purchase, where relevant) to use the content for your own learning during your access period. You may download and print the workbooks and handouts we make available, and keep your completed workbook for your own reference after your access ends. You must not:
If these terms are breached, we may suspend or end your access without a refund, withhold or cancel your certificate, and require the material to be removed, including by sending takedown notices to the platforms hosting it. We may also take any other action available to us by law.
Your own notes. The notes and answers you write in your workbook are yours. You can use them in your own work, as long as you don't reproduce our course content.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 - see our separate Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and why. If you sign up for email updates, we'll only send marketing emails with your consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link, in line with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. We don't send our own newsletter: newsletters are sent by our umbrella brand, The Ontrack Group. If you tick the newsletter box on one of our forms, we pass your name, email address and, if you gave it, your role to The Ontrack Group so it can send you its newsletter. Website content is owned by SBTH or used with permission. You may view and reference it for personal or business use, but not copy, republish, or reverse-engineer any part of it for commercial purposes without our permission. We may update website content at any time without notice.
We provide our courses and website with reasonable care and skill. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
If something's not right, contact us at hello@sbth.co.nz and we'll do our best to sort it out. If we can't resolve it between us, you may have the option of seeking independent advice or, where relevant, raising it with the Disputes Tribunal.
We may update these terms from time to time, including to reflect changes in the law or how we operate. The current version is always available on our website.
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
