Terms and Conditions - Small Business Training Hub

Last updated 1 September 2026

These terms apply when you use this website (sbth.co.nz), create an account, or purchase any course or programme from Small Business Training Hub Ltd ("SBTH", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or purchase a course.

About us

Small Business Training Hub Ltd is a New Zealand company providing plain-English, practical training on payroll, bookkeeping, GST, and small business compliance topics, aimed at small business owners, bookkeepers, virtual assistants, and accountants.

Our courses

We offer a range of courses and programmes, from standalone short courses to full training programmes (such as Payroll Essentials). Course content, format, and access period vary by course - the specific access period for each course is stated on the course page at the time of purchase.

Accounts and login

To access a course, you'll need to create an account with a username and password.

Purchases and payment

  • Prices are shown on the website in NZD and are exclusive of GST, unless stated otherwise on a specific course page.
  • Payment is processed securely through Stripe, or by invoice on request.
  • We don't store your full card details - these are handled directly by Stripe under its own security standards.
  • Access to a course is generally granted once payment is received in full, unless otherwise agreed (for example, on approved invoice terms).

Course Curriculum

The materials contained in this web site are protected by applicable copyright and trade mark law. Terms Permission is granted to use the materials on Companies web site for personal, non-commercial transitory viewing only. This is the grant of a license, not a transfer of title, and under this license you may not:

  • Keep your login details confidential - you're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
  • modify or copy the materials.
  • Course access is for your own personal or internal business use and isn't to be shared with others outside your organisation (see section on Intellectual Property).

Course access

Each course has its own access period, shown on the course page when you purchase. Once that period ends, you may lose access to the course content unless you repurchase or renew, where that option is available. It's your responsibility to complete the course within the stated access period.

Refunds and cancellations

Because our courses are digital and access is granted immediately on purchase, we don't offer refunds once a course has been accessed. If you haven't yet accessed a course and have a genuine reason for requesting a refund, contact us at hello@sbth.co.nz and we'll consider it on a case-by-case basis. This doesn't affect any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 that can't legally be excluded (for example, if a course is faulty or not as described).

Certificates

Learners who complete a full programme (such as Payroll Essentials) receive a certificate of completion. Certificates aren't issued for smaller standalone courses. A certificate confirms completion of the programme content - it isn't a formal accreditation or qualification.

Intellectual property

All course content - videos, materials, templates, quizzes, and resources - is owned by SBTH or used with permission, and is protected by copyright. Your purchase gives you a personal (or single-organisation, where relevant) license to use the content for your own learning. You may not:

  • Copy, record, download, or redistribute course content
  • Share your login or course access with others
  • Use course materials for training others commercially, or resell them
  • Remove copyright notices from any materials provided
  • use the materials for any commercial purpose, or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial).
  • attempt to decompile or reverse engineer any software contained on Companies web site.
  • transfer the materials to another person or 'mirror' the materials on any other server.

Privacy and email marketing

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 - see our separate Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and why. If you sign up for email updates, we'll only send marketing emails with your consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link, in line with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.

Using our website

Website content is owned by SBTH or used with permission. You may view and reference it for personal or business use, but not copy, republish, or reverse-engineer any part of it for commercial purposes without our permission. We may update website content at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

We provide our courses and website with reasonable care and skill. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss (such as loss of profits or business decisions made based on course content) arising from your use of our courses or website.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific course giving rise to the claim.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 that can't lawfully be excluded.

Complaints

If something's not right, contact us at [email] and we'll do our best to sort it out. If we can't resolve it between us, you may have the option of seeking independent advice or, where relevant, raising it with the Disputes Tribunal.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, including to reflect changes in the law or how we operate. The current version is always available on our website.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
